Ford names Gephardt to board of directors

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co (F.N) said on Wednesday that former U.S. Representative Richard Gephardt and the current chief executive and chairman of DTE Energy Co (DTE.N) have been elected it its board of directors effective immediately.
Gephardt, 68, served 28 years in Congress until 2004 including about half as majority or minority leader for the Democratic Party. He is now president and CEO of his own consulting firm, the Gephardt Group, and a senior counsel and strategic adviser for DLA Piper Rudnick.
Ford also elected DTE Chairman and CEO Anthony Earley, 59, to the board. DTE is the owner of Detroit Edison and Michigan Consolidated Gas Co, electric and natural gas utilities respectively.
Gephardt and Earley also serve on other boards.
Gephardt is a board member of United States Steel Corp (X.N), Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc (SPR.N), Dana Holding Corp (DAN.N), Centene Corp (CNC.N) and Embarq Corp (EQ.N). Earley is also a board member Masco Corp (MAS.N).
